I give a reasonable amount of money to charidee, I have a reasonable social conscience and am as distressed as the next person by the appalling and dreadful scenes we see coming from the African sub continent.
However, I do not give a penny to anything associated with Africa. The "fix" is in the hands of the Africans already. If the incredibly corrupt leaders of African nations stopped stealing Aid money, or using it buy arms, or provided any help to their own citizens then maybe i would be a tad more interested. While the despots continue to rape, pillage, steal, ignore and kill their fellow Africans (either by bullet or famine/disease) I will not assist them in their desire for slef enrichment and aggrandisment at the expense of their weakest people.
When the "rebel" forces of whichever country we are talking about stop their killing and the "leaders" stop buying 25 Mercs and private planes I will look at teh situation again. Until then Africa operates on the law of the jungle... Survival of the fittest - if I want what you have - I will take it - if i die trying thats my tough luck - if you die thats your tough luck - if it ends up with you and your family starving and dying - thats your tough luck.
This "thinking" has began to permeate certain levels of society in this country as (Somalians, Nigerians etc) certain African immigrant peoples bring this ethos with them to our shores. British Fair Play??? Hah!
